Beginning in January 2001 when I began to work with the Habitat of Humanity Asia-Pacific office in Bangkok, Thailand, I became part of a disaster response team that would venture to locations of natural disasters in the Asia region.

Over the years I have covered the aftermath of earthquakes in China, Nepal, India, and Pakistan; tsunami’s in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, and Japan, and flooding in Thailand, the Philippines and Sri Lanka.

My photos and stories I covered were used to raise funds to help rebuild their homes of those affected by the natural disasters.

It was always an emotional experience to be amidst the ruins of these disasters and to photograph and interview  those who lost family members as the sought to rebuild and pay tribute to those who lost their lives. These experiences I will never forget.
